How much does the cleaning service cost?

£11.30 per hour + VAT. Spring cleaning is quoted separately, please contact us on office@yourcleaner.co.uk for more information.

How am I charged?

You will be charged weekly, to your selected debit or credit card. At the end of each month you will receive a statement detailing that month's cleaning activity. Please note that we have to add on a 2.5% credit card charge to all credit card transactions. There are no further charges when using Debit, Maestro, Solo and Switch.

What is the minimum number of hours that I can book a cleaner for?

We offer a minimum of three hours per visit. If you require ironing, this can be included. We will be happy to discuss your requirements on our initial consultation.

What cleaning equipment will I need?

You will require a vacuum cleaner with spare bags; broom or dustpan and brush; mop (preferably with a sponge squeegy base); two buckets (see cleaning tips); feather or lambs-wool duster (fantastic!); pink cleaning cloths for the bathroom; blue cleaning cloths for general use; sponges with a green scourer side; polishing cloths; bathroom spray, foam or cream; kitchen spray (supermarket own brand will be cheaper and just as good as a name brand); limescale treatment such as Viakal (please check that it is appropriate for your bath and sink); window cleaner spray; polish; bleach and, if you fancy trying it out, white vinegar (a million uses!).

Do I have to sign a contract?

No. We want you to stay with us because you like our work not because you are contracted to do so! The only form we will ask you to sign is our Health and Safety agreement that protects our cleaners while they are working in your home.

What should I expect after my first cleaning visit?

The first time your cleaner visits, they will work quite a bit slower than usual. This is due to them being unfamiliar with your home and slowly finding their way around. Do not expect a full spring clean if you have only booked your cleaner for four hours. They will fit as much as they can into the time they have, but be reasonable in your expectations. You should expect your home to be vacuumed, mopped, dusted and polished throughout - if you feel that your cleaner is struggling with the amount of work she had to do in the allocated time, you may want to consider increasing your cleaning hours. If you notice items that you would prefer to be cleaned in a different way (or tidied in a manner you are accustomed to), just call or email the office to let us know.

What if I need ironing one week?

That will be no problem at all - all of our cleaners our happy to iron, but we may need to extend the visit length appropriately.
Simply call the office prior to your cleaning day, letting us know where the iron and ironing board are kept. If you only use filtered-water in your iron let us know, otherwise it will be filled from your tap. Please leave your laundry in a pre-arranged or clearly visible place. It would be very helpful if you could also purchase an ironing spray or starch.

Will the cleaner do my laundry?

If you take some time to clearly explain how to use your washing machine, then your cleaner will be more than happy to put items on to wash or dry for you. However, do take care to sort through your laundry to pull out any' dry-clean only' or 'hand wash' items. Also, please check the pockets of your garments for money, tickets or tissues.
We are not a laundry service and we can therefore not be held accountable for any colour flood or item shrinkage. Please do ensure that you have fully briefed your cleaner if you wish them to do laundry for you

Will the cleaner change my bedding?

Yes. Just leave the clean bedding on the end of the bed and this will be your sign that you would like it changed. Let us know if you would like it ironed before it goes on (please note it does take extra time to iron bedding so keep this in mind when allocating time).

I have never had a cleaner before. Is there anything more I should know?

Please show your cleaner both courtesy and respect. They are the wonderful people who will tidy your home, mop your floors and clean your loos. They will do their utmost to make sure that you are happy and pleased with their work. Do encourage your cleaner with positive feedback - it really will be appreciated.
Your cleaner works hard and may appreciate a tea or coffee. Do let them know how to use the kettle and where you keep the sugar. Some clients let their cleaner switch on the radio while cleaning - we all know from experience how dull a quiet house can be! To avoid any confusion do talk this through with your cleaner. Let them know what they can and cannot do. As a tip, a happy cleaner listening to upbeat music will tend to work much faster than one without!
